Global Media & Entertainment Ltd was established at the
turn of the new millennium to provide a dedicated entertainment channel for the
global Tamil Diaspora. There were Tamil channels from India aimed at Indian
audiences but none that catered to the unique requirements of the immigrant
Diaspora. The need of the hour was a channel dedicated to providing affordable
quality programs that the Tamil speaking Diaspora could connect with.
Deepam TV was born on June 11, 2000 and instantly
revolutionized the viewing habits of an entire generation of Tamil speakers in
Europe.
